Choosing the right abrasive media
Not all sandblasting materials are created equal, and we believe in using on the best quality products. We utilize several different abrasives for all of our indoor sandblasting services.
Some of the abrasive medias used:
- Steel Grit: Highly recyclable media. This workhorse of the industrial world is used for the majority of our high production blasting. Not used on non ferrous surfaces.
- Aluminum Oxide: Fairly recyclable media. Used on aluminum surfaces or surfaces needing the ultimate corrosion resistant, consistent profile. Some specialty coatings used by our military applications require this abrasive
- Crushed Glass: One time use media. Great for gentle blasting requirements like automotive paint stripping and also for non ferrous surfaces like stainless steel, aluminum and wood.
- Coal Slag: One time use abrasive for heavy rust scale and thick coating removal
